About Giovanni
Giovanni
Giovanni Ristorante is a Northern Italian restaurant and bar in Nashville’s Midtown neighborhood, serving handmade pasta, risotto, prime beef, and fresh seafood in a Tuscan villa-style setting. The dining room has Venetian and Mantovan plaster walls and a handmade orange Murano glass chandelier and a wrap-around staircase, and the second floor holds a heavy timber wine cellar and bar. The kitchen serves straight through the afternoon with no break between lunch and dinner, live piano plays on Friday and Saturday evenings, and three private spaces are available for events: the Private Room, the Wine Cellar, and the rooftop Cigar Skybox.
The restaurant has been in Midtown since 2008, and the name goes back further than that. Giovanni spent 27 years in Midtown Manhattan before relocating to Nashville. Chef Giovanni Pinato has led the kitchen since the move. Born in Padova, Italy, he trained at Taverna del Colleoni in Bergamo under Chef Alzetta of Venice’s Excelsior Hotel, then cooked in New York at Alo Alo, Maruzzella, and Remi, and in Beverly Hills and West Hollywood at Bice. His menu centers on risotto and homemade pasta, including gluten-free versions, alongside daily fish from Greece and Portugal, Mediterranean octopus, and whole branzino. Seasonal black and white truffles, imported cheeses and salumi, and a deep wine list with rare bottles round out the menu.
