Champy’s World Famous Fried Chicken officially opened on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, in Nashville’s Downtown neighborhood. Inspired by recipes from the Mississippi Delta, Champy’s brings authentic Southern flavor to Music City. This casual fried chicken restaurant and bar opened in Chattanooga in 2009, and now has 11 locations. The Nashville outpost took over the space previously occupied by City Tap House. Guests can expect fried-to-order chicken, hand-rolled Mississippi tamales, homemade sides, a beverage menu including forties and daiquiris, weekend brunch, and happy hour specials. The Interior
The interior at Champy’s is decked out with neon signs, colorful “dive bar” decor, and vintage alcohol memorabilia. The atmosphere is vibrant and filled with fun, high-energy. Seating options include high tops, booths, and long communal tables (suitable for large parties like bachelorettes and corporate meetings), plus a spacious bar area to grab a refreshing beer or cocktail. With its close proximity to venues like Nissan Stadium and Bridgestone Arena, it’s also an easy walk before or after an event.
The Exterior
Champy’s is situated on 3rd Avenue South in Downtown Nashville, specifically within the SoBro area. Some of the neighboring businesses include The Diner Nashville, Cafe Intermezzo, Bakersfield, The Southern, and Pancake Pantry. The retractable windows allow for fresh air and sunshine when weather permits. Paid parking garages and lots are situated close by.
The Menu
Champy’s menu focuses on Cajun-style cuisine with Southern sides and comfort food. Their crispy fried chicken is the star of the show, but don’t pass up on the award-winning hot wings, savory tamales, and decadent sides, including mac and cheese, slaw, green beans, and potato salad. If you’re craving brunch, Champy’s offers a weekend brunch menu served Friday through Sunday from 10:00am to 2:00pm. Menu highlights include the Mississippi Delta Homemade Hot Tamales, the Smoked Sausage, Cheese & Pickle Plate, and the Fried Chicken Waffle.
