Dolly Day at Friends In Low Places

Dolly Day, a day-long fundraiser for children’s literacy honoring Dolly Parton, is Friday, September 25, 2026, from 10:00am to 2:00am at Friends In Low Places. Every dollar the Downtown Nashville honky-tonk takes in that day goes to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and Nashville Public Library, and the bar will collect children’s book donations throughout the day. The date (9/25) is a nod to Parton’s 9 to 5, and this is the inaugural year of what Friends In Low Places plans to make an annual tradition.

Parton founded the Imagination Library in 1995 in honor of her father, who never learned to read or write. The program has since put more than 300 million free books into the hands of children around the world. Parton died in Nashville on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at age 80.
