Slim and Husky’s, a fast-casual neighborhood pizza beeria, officially opens in the Buchanan District on Monday, March 13, 2017. The new pizza joint is located just outside of Germantown, and focuses on locally-sourced ingredients in a fun, 90’s-inspired atmosphere. The three founders — two of whom grew up “husky” and the other “slim” — are Nashville natives and are excited to bring a fresh concept to “The Buc” area of North Nashville. Nashville Guru got a look inside the space.
The Interior
The interior of Slim and Husky’s is airy and bright, with a black-and-white color scheme throughout. There are several community tables and bar seating by the window. Classic 90’s TV shows display on the walls via projectors, and hits from artists like Salt-N-Pepa and Outkast play over the speakers. To pay homage to its location — the Buchanan Arts District — the space incorporates local art and murals, including artwork in the restrooms by XPayne and painted lyrics on the ceiling from Arrested Development’s song “Tennessee.”
The Exterior
The exterior continues the black and white color palette with a large Slim and Husky’s logo on the side of the building. There’s a large patio with cushy seating and doors that open to the interior.
The Menu
Slim and Husky’s uses locally-sourced cheese, meats and vegetables whenever possible. As a fast-casual joint, they make and bake gourmet-style pizzas in less than five minutes. Similar to a sandwich shop, guests choose between a Slim (8-inch) or a Husky (16-inch) pizza, and can either build their own pizza or choose from a list of signature options. There’s a wide-variety of toppings, including everything from salmon to spicy chickpeas to good ol’ pepperoni. Make sure to try one of their signature drizzles at the condiment station. Co-owner Clinton Gray highly recommends the balsamic molasses drizzle. See the food menu.
The drink menu highlights 14 local beers on draft, including almost every brewery in Music City, from Mayday to Fat Bottom to Yazoo. Cans of wine and adult slushies are also available. See the drink menu.

Ate there last night. Pizza is great. They make both artisanal and standard pizzas. They use the fast fired method that results in a very nice thin crust. Pizza comes in two sizes, $9 for slim and $12 for Husky (I think that’s the price for the big one).
Soon they will also make cinnamon rolls for dessert and I can hardly wait.
I highly recommend.
And one of the best things is that one of the owners is my neighbor here in Germantown and a totally great guy.
