A Look Inside: Henley

Henley, a new modern American brasserie, opened on Monday, June 19, 2017, in the Aertson Hotel. The name “Henley” is inspired by the iconic shirt made popular in the early 1900s, which was a symbol of rebellion against the rigid clothing of the era. Hints of this inspiration are present in each aspect of Henley, including the design, décor, menu, service, and staff. Nashville Guru got a look inside.

The Interior

Henley’s polished interior features bold florals, cool colors, black and white tile, leather seating, and a sleek central bar. The eyes of Bette Davis keep watch over the bar. Seating ranges from booths to tables to a large community farm table. There’s also a moody private dining area in the back called The Snooker, which is ideal for large parties seeking an intimate experience.

The Exterior

Henley has an exterior patio with seating for about 30 guests. Tall green shrubs provide some privacy from Midtown traffic and pedestrians.

The Menu

Breakfast and dinner are served daily. The menu, spearheaded by James Beard Award-winning executive chef RJ Cooper, focuses on inventive plates, shareable options, and communal courses. Dinner highlights include Smoked Duck Egg Rigatoni, NC Sunburst Trout, and Wedge Oak Farm Duck. There’s also a snack cart, which changes daily. See the menu.

The bar program spotlights Tennessee whiskies, but there are plenty of speciality cocktails, local craft beers, and carefully chosen wines, too.

“Nashville is an incredibly spirited place and Midtown is a particularly exciting part of this city, which is why we decided to open our first restaurant here,” says Avi Rathnakumar, Regional Director of Restaurant & Bar Operations for Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. “The proximity to Music Row, world-class colleges and the bustling downtown make this location an ideal spot for both Nashville natives and visiting guests to experience Henley’s cuisine and cocktails.”
