UPDATE 01/15/18: The Country is now The Local and under new management.

The Country, a new bar and music joint, officially opened on Friday, September 18, 2015 at 110 28th Avenue North next door to Jed’s Sports Bar & Grille. John Leonard, owner of Jed’s, is behind the new venture, which is the first dedicated place for live music in the West End area.

“Music has been a huge part of my life and is a pillar of this city,” says Leonard. “My mother taught me piano when I was a child and I still play to this day. To open a music venue in Nashville has always been a dream of mine; I’m incredibly excited to have the opportunity to add The Country to our city, and specifically to the West End neighborhood where we’ve had such great success with our first bar, Jed’s Sports Bar & Grille.”

The Atmosphere

The 3000-square-foot space is rustic, with a large steel and granite bar, a reclaimed wood back bar, and industrial lighting. There’s seating for about 50 people inside and 30 on the large patio, along with plenty of standing room.  The artwork on the walls was created by co-owner Pamela Leonard, which incorporates original musical patents including the banjo, microphone, guitar and gramophone. The stage and sound system are ready for nightly live music, ranging from local writers in-the-round to cover bands playing country favorites. Make sure to visit the restroom to see the whiskey-inspired sinks.

What’s Pourin’

While there are a handful of food items on the menu, The Country is mostly focused on music and drinks. There are 24 local and regional brews on draft and a bar full of spirits.
