Tempur Chocolate Shoppe, which opened on December 22, 2014, will change their name to Tempered European Indulgence and expand their menu this month. The Germantown chocolate shop and European-style cafe’s main attraction is the chocolate, but the new menu items, including waffles, sandwiches and bourbon, are geared to attract patrons around-the-clock.
A trademark conflict sparked the renaming from Tempur Chocolate Shoppe to Tempered European Indulgence, but it also encouraged them to expand the menu and rethink the concept. The new menu includes European-style deli sandwiches, locally-made croissants, Brussels-style Belgian waffles and bourbon tastings. In combination with their original offerings of chocolate truffles, sweets, Charcuterie boards, cheese plates, wine flights and vegan desserts, the new menu gives customers a wider variety of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner. From morning waffles to lunchtime sandwiches to evening wine tastings, the new Tempered menu is well-rounded for any time of day.
Tempered European Indulgence is the creation of 312 Pizza Company founders (Staci Bockman, Daniel Bockman, Stormy Wolff, Bill Wolff, and Kimberly Wolff) and Chef Chelsea Gunn. Staci Bockman’s dream to open a chocolate shop came to fruition when she met Chef Gunn, who is not only a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu in Paris, but also a talented chocolatier. The partnership came naturally, and when the Germantown location became available, Staci knew it was time to set up shop.
