Welcome to Downtown Nashville’s hidden destination, Vinyl Vault, tucked behind Mel’s Drive-In on the revitalized 2nd Avenue. It’s a mid-century American hi-fi bar and listening lounge set inside a preserved 1800s bank vault. Think vinyl-only DJs, vintage sound systems, curated cocktails, and rooms with historic character. It’s not really a separate bar so much as a natural extension of Mel’s, just with a little more atmosphere and a lot more late night. The concept officially opened on May 29, 2026. Nashville Guru stopped by to get a look inside.
The Interior
Designed by Karley of Assembly Haus Design Studio, the space was built to feel collected rather than decorated. Arched windows, exposed brick, original fireplaces, and two authentic steel vaults are all still intact, and the whole thing feels less like a new venue and more like a secret Nashville room.
There are three rooms, each with its own personality. Upon entering, you think it’s just a single bar. But as soon as you walk around the corner, you see how large the space actually is. The main bar features a custom walnut back bar loaded with record shelving, turntables, and vintage audio equipment, with restored 1950s Altec Lansing “Voice of the Theatre” speakers and red neon arcing across the back wall like sound waves. The pool room is pure fun, with a disco ball overhead, an Eagle pool table, and vintage 1960s JBL speakers. And the B.B. King Lounge gives VIP vibes with leather seating, historic brick, and Klipsch surround sound.

The Exterior
Vinyl Vault lives behind Mel’s Drive-In, located on Downtown Nashville’s 2nd Avenue. You walk through Mel’s restaurant area and make your way to the very back, where you’ll see a vault door. Enter there and walk down the hallway (pictured below).
The Menu
The cocktail list matches the music in all the right ways. Tequila and American whiskey lead things off, and the house originals are worth a closer look. “Jolene,” “Sweet Emotion,” and “Lucille” are among the signatures. There is also a limited food menu, or you grab a bite at Mel’s, which is open 24 hours on the weekends.

If you’re looking for a late-night Nashville spot with real atmosphere and music that actually sounds good, Vinyl Vault is the kind of place worth checking out. It’s a hidden gem in the Downtown area.
