888 officially opened on Friday, September 6, 2024, in Nashville’s Downtown neighborhood. This innovative Japanese restaurant and vinyl record listening lounge was created by Turnberry, the operators of Bourbon Steak and the JW Marriott Nashville. Guests can expect elevated Japanese cuisine, a sushi bar program, nightly DJs, and special events including listening sessions, artist spotlights, and album features. 888 is attached to the JW Marriott Nashville and is located on the corner of 8th Avenue South with a private entrance (look for the red light). Nashville Guru stopped by to get a look inside.

The Interior

888 has two sushi bars, a private dining room, a central cocktail island, and a seating capacity for 100 guests. The interior, designed by Los Angeles-based design studio Commune, pulls a lot of influence from traditional Japanese jazz kissa bars. The acoustics and sound system were designed by award-winning Steven Durr, Soundlux Audio, and OJAS.

The Menu

While dining at 888, guests can expect an intimate and communal dining experience featuring delicious food and exceptional music. Their signature dishes include Nigiri, Maki, Cured Salmon Onigiri, Donabe Fried Rice, and Hot Haraage. Sushi Chef Deden “Benny the Blade” Bandi is most known for his work with Chef Nobu Matsuhisa and as a private chef for Mick Jagger, Jennifer Lopez, and Cameron Diaz. The beverage menu offers creative cocktails and an extensive selection of Japanese products such as craft beers, rare whiskies, and a curated sake program. See the menus.
