A Look Inside: Common Ground

Common Ground, a new neighborhood restaurant and bar, officially opened in the Sylvan Park area on Friday, November 4, 2022. The concept comes from Matthew Ramos and Wes Taylor, two long-time hospitality professionals in Nashville. The duo, who had already been working on the restaurant’s menu and vision for many months, quickly took over Chaatable‘s space when it shuttered. Common Ground is already getting rave reviews for their cocktail program (especially the espresso martinis), Denver steaks, carrot cake, and attentive service. Nashville Guru stopped by to get a look inside.

The Interior

The interior of Common Ground is bright and sleek with natural tones throughout. There’s a coffee bar for the morning crowd, booth seating and two-top tables for lunch and dinner guests, and a main bar for happy hour sippers. A large private dining room is available in the back for special occasions. Visitors can also shop a selection of  merchandise like their humorous “Don’t BNA Hole” shirt, which is named after one of their speciality cocktails.

The Exterior

Common Ground is situated on Charlotte Avenue in the Hill Center Sylvan Heights development near other popular destinations like L&L Market and Sylvan Supply. Parking is available on the side streets and in the back parking lot.

The Menu

Common Ground is open for lunch, dinner, happy hour, and weekend brunch. Highlights from the food menu include Toasts (avocado, hummus, and whipped boursin), sandwiches like the Smashburger, and Denver steak. Their beverage program doesn’t disappoint either. Try the “Neighborhood” Marg or one of their popular espresso martinis. If you aren’t imbibing, they even has a selection of zero proof options.
