Layer Cake, a four-story restaurant and bar concept from the experiential hospitality group, Milkshake Concepts, officially opened in Downtown Nashville on Monday, May 30, 2022. The “choose-your-own, layered adventure” offers something different on each floor, including a laidback restaurant on the ground level, a refined dining experience on the second floor, a party-centric rooftop with a full menu, and an underground lounge. Nashville Guru stopped by to get a look inside.

The Interior

The Wonder Room (Ground Level)

Guests are hit with a color bomb as they walk through the doors at Layer Cake. Vibrant colors and fun décor create a buzzy atmosphere that’s truly perfect for a bachelorette party backdrop. There’s a central bar with several TVs and a variety of plush seating options throughout.

The Dining Room (2nd Floor)

Venture up to the second floor for a more elevated dining experience in The Dining Room. The sophisticated space has table seating, an open kitchen, and a bar and lounge area overlooking 3rd Avenue South.

The Rooftop (3rd Floor)

Get a photo in front of the “Wish You Were Here” sign, situated right in front of Nashville’s iconic Batman building, on The Rooftop. This open-air space has a covered section with fans, booths, a bar with TVs, and a full menu. DJs perform nightly to keep the party going into the A.M.

Cherry Lounge (Underground)

The Cherry Lounge, “Downtown Nashville’s newest best-kept secret,” is an intimate cocktail lounge located underground. Be sure to visit the separate website and Instagram account to learn more about this destination.

The Exterior

If you need a respite from the country vibes on Lower Broadway, Layer Cake is it. It’s just a short walk down 3rd Avenue South.

The Menu

Layer Cake has two separate menus for The Wonder Room and Rooftop and one for The Dining Room. The main menu has options like the Smash Burger, French Dip, Duck Fat Tater Tots, Biscuits & Gravy, and Spicy Pepperoni Flatbread. The Dining Room has a more extensive American menu with items like Cajun Chicken Frites, Teriyaki Veggie Fried Rice, and 12 Oz New York Strip Steak. Brunch is also served Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, which is when you can expect large-format cocktails to be flowing, like the Mimosa Tower and Broadway Girl.

The Details

Layer Cake adds something new and fresh to the Downtown scene, and is a must-visit for any bachelorette party, birthday celebration, or a night out.
