A Look Inside: The Dive Motel + Swim Club

March 4, 2021 | Advertising Disclosure | Our Partners may be mentioned in this article.

The Dive Motel brings something fresh and funky to East Nashville: 23 retro motel rooms, a pool and swim club, and a dive bar. Think disco balls, party switches, shag rugs, and retro flare. The building was built in 1956 and was previously occupied by a rundown motor inn called Key Motel. Lyon Porter and Jersey Banks, who also own Urban Cowboy, got ahold of the property and revitalized it into The Dive Motel, which officially opened on Monday, August 5, 2019. Nashville Guru stopped by to get a look inside.

The World Famous Dive Bar

When you enter The Dive Motel, you pass through a check-in / check-out office into the World Famous Dive Bar, which is open to the public. The bar has retro booths, bar stools, and tchotchkes galore. There is also a DJ booth and merch counter so you can leave with your very own Dive Motel memorabilia. The dive bar is open daily from 9:00am until 2:00am, making this a place to wake up or wind down. The entire property is 21+.

The Motels Rooms

The Dive Motel has three penthouses, three double rooms, three cabins, and 14 king rooms for a total of 23 motel rooms, each with its own theme. The penthouses and double rooms are in a separate building from the cabins and king rooms. Every room has a party switch with four channels, a disco ball with multicolored lighting, and bathrooms equipped with EO products.

The cabins are the most affordable option, followed by the king rooms. Upgrade your stay in one of the double rooms, penthouses, or the top-tier honeymoon suite. The double-soaking tubs in the honeymoon suite justify the price tag. I Saw the Sign, a local creative agency, designed and executed the hand-painted walls in the honeymoon suite and room twelve. The entire property is 21+.

The Pool + Swim Club

The 60-foot pool and hot tub are surrounded by loungers, umbrellas, and red tables that double as coolers. There is poolside cocktail service as well as DJ pool parties on the weekends. Soon there will be cabanas available for large groups who are looking for a VIP experience.

The pool is open to non-motel guests for $20 Monday through Friday and $30 Saturday and Sunday, on a first come, first served basis. Hours are noon to sundown for day-pass holders and passes are limited so access is not guaranteed. The entire property is always 21+, and guests are encouraged to bring their own towels.

For more committed swimmers, the Swim Club is $365 annually or $95 per month, which allows access to the pool at 11:00am plus other perks like 10% off food and beverages and invites to poolside events. Get more details.

The Menu

The World Famous Dive Bar is open from 9:00am to 2:00am every day, meaning they serve everything from breakfast drinks and assorted pastries to cocktails, beer, wine, sandwiches, wraps, and fries. A cold draft beer and disco fries (shoestring fries with cheese, dive sauce, and scallions) sound like the perfect combo to accompany a day at the pool.

The Details

The Dive Motel is the definition of a one-of-a-kind experience in Nashville.
