A Look Inside: Noelle

April 21, 2018 | Advertising Disclosure | Our Partners may be mentioned in this article.

For a creative Nashville experience, look no further than Noelle. The concept, owned by Rockbridge and operated by MAKEREADY, is located in the former home of Noel Place, one of Music City’s first luxury hotels dating back to 1930. Noelle is geared towards adventurous travelers and locals with an appreciation for history, art, and authenticity. It features a 224-room hotel, lobby bar (Trade Room), restaurant (Makeready Libations & Liberation), coffee shop (Drug Store Coffee), retail store (Keep Shop), rooftop bar (Rare Bird), and a print and portrait studio (Little Prints). The hotel officially opened its doors on Thursday, December 21, 2017. Nashville Guru got a look inside.

Trade Room

Starting in Trade Room, it’s easy to see how Noelle’s interior preserves the Art Deco-era style, including soft pink Tennessee marble walls, terazzo floors, and brass railings. The majority of the furniture, decor, and art were created by local artisans and makers. Events often take place in Saidee Gallery, the hotel’s ballroom and event space, accessible through the exquisite door in the back. Venture upstairs to the mezzanine for a bird’s eye view from Archives.

Key players in Noelle’s design include: Nick Dryden of Dryden Architecture and Design, leading architectural interiors and elements; Benji Peck of Peck & Company, directing branding efforts, including the blue heron character throughout the space; and Bryce McCloud of Isle of Printing, providing signature art pieces and curating local talent.

The Hotel & Rooms

Every room at Noelle features king beds, including the double rooms, which is rare. Guests can flip through the hotel’s custom publication, The Line, while sipping on fresh water from the sparking water tap in the hallway. Each room also features a unique print by a local artist. Makeready Libations & Liberation

Makeready Libations & Liberation is the hotel’s signature restaurant. The “Portrait Line” wall is a highlight of the restaurant, which features a silhouette cutout of notable Nashvillians. There’s a variety of seating, including group tables, booths, and a community high-top table. A working printing press will soon become a focal point, too. Don’t forget to get a photo by the Makeready sign by the stairs.

Breakfast and dinner are served daily, lunch is served Monday through Saturday, and brunch is available on Sunday. See the menu.

Drug Store Coffee

Drug Store Coffee is the hotel’s street-level coffee shop, which is operated in collaboration with Andy Mumma of Barista Parlor. There are several tables and a retail section highlighting a variety of Barista Parlor’s products.

Keep Shop

Keep Shop is a 1,200-square-foot retail store curated by Nashville-based creative consultant Libby Callaway. The shop features exclusive and limited-edition items from local makers and designers, along with other Callaway favorites.

The Exterior

Noelle is located on the same block as Printer’s Alley in Downtown Nashville at the corner of Church Street and 4th Avenue. Bars, restaurants, and a grocery store are within walking distance, making this a convenient location for the on-foot traveler.
