The highly anticipated Chauhan Ale and Masala House, pronounced show-han, will open on Tuesday, November 18th in the North Gulch. We got a look inside this spectacular new gem in Nashville and were blown away. It’s truly an upbeat, modern Indian restaurant. Of course, we expected nothing less from co-owner and Executive Chef, Maneet Chauhan. Apparently, Maneet Chauhan decided to open her first namesake restaurant in Nashville after visiting and loving the city and people. Nashville tends to charm people, and we’re glad it got the attention of Chef Chauhan who recently referred to herself as a “Nash-Yorker” in a Huffington Post article.
Chauhan Ale and Masala House is infectious when you walk in with wonderful Indian patterns and decor, but a familiar pub-like feel. Not yet added will be a lounge area with comfortable furniture, along with tables made into a traditional Indian game called Carrom, which you can play while dining. The seating options include booths, tables and the bar area with high tops and bar stools. The bright pops of color combined with rustic aspects like exposed brick really make the space lively and contemporary.
The food and drinks at Chauhan will have Indian (Mumbai and New Delhi) as well as Southern (Nashville) influence. We were told by co-founder London Parfitt that Chef Chauhan isn’t afraid to break the boundaries of typical Indian cuisine. There will be everything on the menu from seafood to lamb to pork belly to hot chicken. Of course, tons of vegetarian options will also be available. Let’s talk drinks. No one can deny that Nashville is craft beer crazy right now, and Chauhan will fill this craving with its custom Indian spice-infused microbrews.
Chauhan opens on Tuesday, November 18 and will start with a dinner service only, but will quickly add weekday lunch and weekend brunch.
