After years of anticipation, the time has come for the Grand Opening of the Music City Center. The Grand Opening events will take place on Sunday, May 19th and Monday, May 20th. All events are free and open to the public – see details below the photos.

Schedule of Events:

Sunday, May 19th

  • 1:30pm: Fun Walk with Mayor Karl Dean (meet at Walk of Fame Park)
  • 2pm – 6pm: Enjoy an open house, tours, live music, kids activities and light refreshments. Nashville Symphony plays at 3pm.
  • 3pm – 7pm: Live Music on the Plaza featuring Phil Vassar and 10 Out of Tenn

Monday, May 20th

  • 9am: Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with Mayor Karl Dean at 5th Avenue & Demonbreun
  • 10am: State of Metro Address from Mayor Karl Dean in the Grand Lobby outside Exhibit Hall, Level 3
  • 5pm – 7pm: Public Open House
  • 6pm – 9pm: Street Party & Concert featuring Sheryl Crow, The Time Jumpers with Vince Gill, Fisk Jubilee Singers, Mikky Ekko. Firework finale.
