Lou officially opened in East Nashville on Saturday, September 7, 2019. The highly-anticipated café offers all-day brunch, an all-natural wine bar, and a menu focused on sustainable, local ingredients. Lou’s concept ties together a European style with a present-day California vibe. Nashville guru stopped by to take a look inside.

The Interior

The interior reflects a classic French bistro, including vintage wallpaper, small circular tables, and the former home’s original brick fireplace. The 1,446-square-foot space seats 35 guests in the main dining area and five guests at the bar.

The Exterior

Lou is situated in a renovated 1930s craftsman house. The exterior will soon feature an enclosed outdoor patio that can seat 24 guests plus an additional 12 guests at the communal table. With lemon trees, sunlight, and a year-round patio, guests will get a feel of The Golden State without leaving the east side.

The Menu

Lou’s bright and eclectic menu features “healthy-ish” cuisine with vegetable-forward dishes and the use of select proteins. The meals are made with local, in-season ingredients. During brunch, guests can enjoy standouts such as the crispy rice and kale salad and roasted banana buckwheat pancakes. Dinner highlights include chilled salmon and pork belly with Chinese five spice caramel. Beverage options range from an iced Vietnamese coffee to a variety of all-natural wines.
