B1281, a classic surf club-inspired patio bar and food truck, officially opened in Wedgewood-Houston on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. The Hawaiian-themed destination offers a festive outdoor area, Hawaiian cuisine and cocktails, and entertainment like POGs, the popular ’90s game. Nashville Guru stopped by to get a look at the space.

The Space

B1281 is a fully outdoor establishment with a covered bar, picnic tables, a food truck, and a lounge area. On the way up the wooden stairs, guests are welcomed by a massive mural by Wooden Wave. Lush greenery and palm plants provide a tropical vibe, including naturally growing vegetation along the nearby railroad tracks. Each table has a basket of pogs (a game that originated in Hawaii) for entertainment. Make sure to send a postcard to a friend—just write a note on one of the provided postcards and drop it in the yellow mailbox under the neon sign.

The Menu

B1281 serves lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. The Hawaiian-inspired menu includes options ranging from ahi poke to yakitori to gyoza. The beverage program focuses on tropical cocktails like the Royal Hawaiian (gin, orgeat, pineapple, lemon) and Navy Grog (over proof rum, honey, guava, grapefruit, lime), plus wines (red, white, and sparkling) and a nice selection of beers.

The Details

This is the perfect hidden gem for your next patio hang.
