Sunda New Asian, a Chicago-based concept created by hospitality group Rockit Ranch Productions, officially opened in the Gulch neighborhood on Monday, April 16, 2018. Sunda is located in the previous location of Cantina Laredo on the ground level of the Icon building at 592 12th Avenue South. Nashville Guru got a look inside.
Sunda’s modern interior features an open floor plan with a bar, a main dining room, a private dining room, and a sushi bar. Asian-inspired decor is scattered throughout, including intricate wall art and carefully crafted wooden statues. Parties of all sizes can be accommodated, from two-tops to large community tables for 10. For an engaging evening, guests can get a front row seat at the sushi bar and watch the chefs prep sushi rolls.
Sunda is situated in the heart of The Gulch neighborhood. Just look for the bold blue exterior. Garage parking in the same building is free for the first hour and only $4 for the second hour.
Southeast Asian flavors can be found in the food and cocktail program, inspired by countries like China, Japan, and Thailand. Guests can also expect cultural experiences such as sake tastings and sushi rolling classes. Menu items include sushi, sashimi, nigari, and signature dishes like miso-glazed black cod and lemongrass beef lollipops.
