Need a break from reality but can’t make an actual vacation happen? Cue the staycation. Whether you’re a couple celebrating an anniversary, parents with a rare kid-free night, or a group of friends craving a weekend of pampering, here’s where to get away without leaving Nashville.

Top Spots for a Nashville Staycation

Noelle

This elegant new hotel’s lounge hosts a fancier-than-average happy hour from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, with specials on raw oysters and rosé; on Sundays, the sweet spot moves to Noelle’s Makeready Libations & Liberation restaurant, where you can indulge in brunch items like Toad in the Hole, popcorn ricotta, and classic cocktails. The rooms themselves feature floor-to-ceiling windows (with a blackout shade option), 24-hour room service, complimentary coffee delivery, and bathrobes by local designer Han Starnes. For the ultimate staycation, snag Noelle’s two-bedroom penthouse—it has its own wet bar, soaking tub, and walk-in shower.

Urban Cowboy

Have you ever wanted to live in a gorgeous Queen Anne Victorian mansion on the east side of town? Play pretend at Urban Cowboy B&B, which originated in Brooklyn and brings some of that hipster funkiness to each suite in its Nashville location. In-room spa services (including a couple’s massage) are available to complete your retreat.

21c Museum Hotel

While the underbelly of Nashville’s 21c Museum Hotel comprises 10,500 square feet of thought-provoking art exhibitions, upstairs you’ll find a fully immersive artsy experience. Three of the hotel’s suites double as dreamy site-specific installations—painter Sebastiaan Bremer’s Sanctuary 21c, for example, is outfitted with both recording studio and visual arts studio (the other two suites were designed by actor Adrian Grenier and digital artist Yung Jake). Meanwhile, the Spa at 21c offers individual and made-for-two treatments that can also be done in the privacy of your room.

Germantown Inn

This historic house is a true B&B, with six cozy suites named after (and inspired by) former U.S. presidents. Make sure to venture downstairs for a locally sourced breakfast spread with Christie Cookie muffins, parfaits, homemade quiches, and Steadfast Coffee. (Should you choose to socialize, there’s also a complimentary wine hour from 5 to 6 p.m.) The Germantown Inn’s best amenity just might be its five-star innkeeper, Veda, who goes out of her way to spoil her guests.

The Westin

Even if you have a pool in your backyard or at your apartment complex, there’s no way it beats the Westin’s picturesque rooftop infinity pool—the highest in the city. (A renovation to the space is being unveiled soon, so check here to make sure it’s open before grabbing your bathing suit). The hotel’s in-house Rhapsody Spa offers a couple’s massage package called Just the Two of Us as well as luxe mani-pedi services for groups of friends.

Kimpton Aertson

A nightly wine hour, seasonal rooftop pool, and complimentary cruiser bikes are just the beginning of the Kimpton Aertson’s fun perks. The attached Henley restaurant is well equipped for all kinds of staycationers: Enjoy an anniversary dinner in the intimate Snooker Room, share a dim sum–style brunch with friends, or have an extravagant dessert delivered straight to your room. Reserve about two hours for the seven-part Woodhouse Escape, a head-to-toe spa treatment that involves everything from a stone massage to acupressure.

Thompson

Yes, there’s a serene way to experience the exploding Gulch neighborhood: from high above, through the Thompson’s floor-to-ceiling windows, while wearing a plush oversize robe. Downstairs, the double-duty Killebrew Coffee serves up baked treats in the morning (from James Beard–nominated pastry chef Lisa Marie White, no less) and caffeinated cocktails on Saturday and Sunday nights. And the hotel’s swanky rooftop bar, LA Jackson, recently debuted large-batch cocktails—they’re perfect for groups looking to kick back.

Omni

“Relaxing” and “downtown” don’t have to be mutually exclusive. When you’re lounging by the Omni’s rooftop pool (or soaking in the whirlpool), you’ll easily forget that you’re just steps from Honky-Tonk Row. A few floors down, Mokara Spa’s Harmony Package is a couple’s dream, with 50-minute massages and 75-minute luxury pedicures—plus chocolate-covered strawberries and champagne—for two.

The 404 Hotel

The boutique 404 Hotel bills its service as “invisible” and “hands-off”—there’s no front desk and you check in with a pre-sent code—so the biggest draw here is the amount of privacy you get during your stay. It’s also an experience for mature audiences only: No children or pets are permitted in any of the four king-size suites. Hop over to the intimate 404 Kitchen for dinner, which you’ll likely savor as much as this roundabout way of getting free parking in The Gulch.

Union Station

Equal parts glamorous and historically significant, Union Station Hotel will have you feeling regal the minute you step inside. Though it’s tempting to just set up camp in the famed grand lobby, spring for one of the former train station’s 17 suites, which have 18-foot vaulted ceilings and lush separate sitting areas. Artsy bonus: All guests receive free admission to the Frist (simply flash your room key).

Cambria

Staycationers at the Cambria are treated with Bluetooth-equipped bathrooms, suites with spacious sitting areas, and one of the only heated outdoor pools in town. A 9,400-square-foot restaurant called NashHouse Southern Spoon and Saloon is slated to open in the coming months; in the meantime, there’s food and live entertainment every night downstairs at True Music Room bar.

Hutton Hotel

The upgrades at the Hutton are so new, you can smell them…or at least hear them. As of December 2017, music-minded staycationers can book time in the writers’ rooms designed by Dierks Bentley and One Republic’s Ryan Tedder—from instruments to a vocal booth, they’re stocked with everything you need to lay down a demo. If that’s too much effort for your low-key stay, head to the spa for a customized tandem massage with your partner or best bud.
