The Best Winter Workshops & Classes

Skillpop Calligraphy Course

This Charlotte startup recently expanded to Nashville, bringing with it a series of craft-honing classes taught by local professionals. If you missed the Watercolor Holiday Wreaths course on November 28, learn the art of Modern Brush Calligraphy on December 6 at Center 615—the price ($30) includes a brush pen to take home. Stay tuned to Skillpop’s calendar for even more upcoming offerings.

Cheekwood Gingerbread Workshops

Cheekwood is hosting drop-in Family Gingerbread Workshops on December 2 and 16 starting at 9am and Evening Gingerbread Workshops (featuring seasonal drinks) on December 6 and 20 starting at 5pm. Construct an edible masterpiece with ingredients from local bakery Crumb de la Crumb, then stroll through the botanical garden’s annual Holiday LIGHTS exhibit, which features one million twinkling lights. The gingerbread workshops are $65 for non-Cheekwood members and $52 for members; up to five people can contribute to each house. Ticket prices for Holiday LIGHTS vary. Get more details.

Rebel Hill Wreath-Making Class

If your Christmas decor is missing that pièce de résistance, Rebel Hill Florist has a fun DIY solution. At its Fresh Holiday Wreath class on December 5, you’ll make your own front-door decoration under the guidance of floral design experts—and while sipping wine. Admission ($74.95) includes wreath materials, design tools, wine and hors d’oeuvres. To reserve your spot, RSVP to cs@rebelhillflorist.com.

Upcoming offerings range from Wine, Women and Wood on December 13 and 27 to a recurring DIY Date Night (whether that’s your spouse or your best friend) every Friday. Check out the full calendar.

Little Beats Children’s Yoga Class

This month, Inner Light Yoga and Habitat Yoga’s kid-friendly class gets into the holiday spirit. Bring your three-and-up little one(s) to ILY’s studio on December 19 for a pint-size morning yoga party—it’s $12 per tot. Mats and festive zen provided. Get more information and register.
