A Look Inside: Lulu

Lulu, an upscale fast-casual restaurant, opens to the public on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, in Germantown. Lulu is the brainchild of restaurateur Miranda Pontes, who was also behind popular spots like Burger Up, Frothy Monkey, and Josephine. Lulu is the first restaurant under the direction of Gather Hospitality, a recently-formed company comprised of Pontes and real estate developer Doug Martin. Nashville Guru stopped by to get a look inside.

The Interior

One of Lulu’s main mission statements — “Yes To All” — is the first thing you see upon entering the 3,200-square-foot space. The atmosphere at Lulu encourages a community experience using large community tables, single-family tables, and a 19-seat bar in the center of the main dining room. There are exposed ceilings, tall windows, white subway tiles, and bold light fixtures.

“People today want to meet and eat in spaces that offer unique experiences, ones that surprise and delight, and that exceed their wildest expectations,” Pontes says.

The Menu

The healthy and hearty cuisine at Lulu is under the direction of Rachel De Jong. Menu items include options like grain bowls, salads, rotisserie chicken, and burgers made from Triple L. Ranch beef. Lulu will also be a go-to spot for fresh baked goods, coffee, and juices. Complimentary vegan ice cream will also be available to all diners.

Lulu will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Dine-in, take-out and delivery options will be available, including a walk-up window for people on-the-go.
