Little Donkey, a Mexican restaurant that makes everything from scratch, softly opened on Thursday, February 4, 2016 in Nashville’s Germantown neighborhood. Little Donkey, a Fresh Hospitality concept, originated in Birmingham, AL. Nashville is the second location for Little Donkey. Nashville Guru got a sneak peek of the space and cuisine.
Little Donkey’s Interior
Little Donkey’s interior is bright and airy, with two garage doors that open to the large patio. Most of the seating consists of wooden tables and chairs, but there are also a couple booths. The bar, which seats about a dozen people, faces the kitchen where patrons can watch the staff prepare dishes and shake cocktails.
Little Donkey’s Exterior
The covered patio has seating for about 40 people. Margaritas are guaranteed to be enjoyed here.
Little Donkey’s Menu & Cuisine
Everything is made in-house, all the way down to the grinding of the corn for the masa which is used to make each tortilla. The menu includes familiar Mexican favorites, including enchiladas, tacos, and, of course, chips and dips. Little Donkey also have a variety of soups, salads, and sandwiches. The Elote corn should definitely be on your plate.
Little Donkey has a full bar, including plenty of beers on draft. The cocktail menu has a heavy emphasis on margaritas. They have some clever non-alcoholic drinks, too, including a Horchata, which is made from rice water steeped with almonds, cinnamon, and vanilla.
