If you’ve driven down 8th Avenue South lately, you’ve probably seen the brightly-colored blue and yellow building housing The Hook, a regionally-inspired chicken and seafood restaurant. The fast-casual hangout officially opens in the Melrose neighborhood on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 11am.

The Hook is the latest concept from the team behind Sinema, which includes Colin Reed, Brenda Reed, Ed Reed, Sam Reed, and Dale Levitski. “We are very excited about the rapid transformation happening on 8th Avenue in the Melrose district,” said Colin Reed.  “The Hook will provide the area with a fast casual option that it needs, while building on the high standards of great service and food that our guests at Sinema have come to expect.”

Nashville Guru got a look inside the detailed and creative space.

The Hook’s Interior

The name ties in two different concepts — seafood and “the hook,” or the memorable portion, of a song. Both play an important part in the atmosphere, too, from instruments and lyrics on the walls to fishing hooks and lures engrained in the bar top to richly colored photos of famous musicians. Above the doorway to the patio is a line from Blues Traveler’s hit song “Hook,” which cleverly states, “the hook brings you back.” Once patrons get a taste of the frozen cocktails, they’ll definitely be back. Major credit goes to Jeff Stamper, who designed the interior art elements.

Check Out The Fishy Art

Make it a point to visit the restrooms to see the edited photos of famous musicians in fishy situations. Peer through the porthole windows on the bathroom doors, too.

Look Overhead

The Hook’s high ceilings make a beautiful canvas for thoughtful lighting. During the day, though, natural light beams through.

The Hook’s Exterior

If you can’t spot The Hook, you’re probably on the wrong street. The blue and yellow building is impossible to miss. “The Hook” is spelled boldly on the side of the building, too, just in case.

The outdoor patio will undoubtedly be packed on nice days. There are six picnic tables and partial shade on a few of them for those who don’t want full sun.

The Hook’s Menu

When it comes to seafood and chicken, The Hook is the new go-to spot in Nashville. The menu includes fish, shrimp, chicken, sandwiches, salads and more. See the full menu.

The Hook has a full bar, a handful of local drafts, spiked sodas, and frozen cocktails. The Hook’s spiked buzz pop sodas are possibly the first of its kind in Nashville, which was an idea from beverage team members Ryan Yamada and Jesse Fraser. The frozen cocktails are going to be a warm weather hit, too, especially if you get a sunny spot on the patio.
