Special Activities for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Dream Tree: To commemorate Dr. King’s life and landmark 1963 speech, visitors will be invited to complete the phrase “I have a Dream…” with a written expression of their dreams for a better world. Inspired by the multicultural tradition of tying prayers or wishes to trees, the written statements will be placed on a dream tree located in the Grand Lobby.

Southern Word Performance: Join top youth poets, emcees and spoken word artists as they honor Dr. King with lyrical tributes. Southern Word creates a platform for youth to speak about the hopes and challenges of their lives. Discretion is advised for this event as some material may be unsuitable for young children. 11:30 a.m. Grand Lobby.

Live Music: Live music in the Grand Lobby by Harry Stephenson at 12:30 p.m.
